Pac-12 Media Days: Washington State’s White Helmet Display Is NOT a Game Day Item

So, those of you that were hoping that Darryl Monroe and several other Washington State bloggers, including here at All Coug’d Up, were right about the possibility of the white helmet with gray logo becoming reality…

Sorry, think again.

Matt Lombardi of College Spun reports this for all Pac-12 fans, not just those of WSU:

"At this year’s Pac-12 Media Days, the conference had 12 different helmets on display – all featured an all-white base with grey lettering/logos. They were for display only – and will never be used in any games by any of the 12 programs."

Yeah, we were duped too, this was a terrific ploy by the Pac-12 Conference to create some extra coverage for its teams. While it was short-lived, Cougar fans that were looking forward to the possible addition shouldn’t be too discouraged.

The Cougs are still expected to reveal some sort of white-base helmet in 2014 and still haven’t revealed their official game day gray-on-gray helmet that was displayed when the Cougs upgraded to Nike uniforms a few years ago.

While the white/gray helmet was pretty cool, I really think the helmet would look super-dope as a white base with crimson logo and gray trim of some sort. More thoughts on all that the Cougs could do with it can be found in my early article discussing all of the options I could think of here.

What’s your favorite current helmet for WSU? After seeing one possibility, are you in favor of a white-base helmet or not? Let us know in the comments!

Go Cougs!
