Washington State football is on the rise and while most fans around the conference are still laughing at the Cougs’ chances this season, some sites and publications are already predicting a decent season for WSU and a bowl game appearance.

Sporting News is putting the Cougars into the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl, which isn’t a huge step above 2013’s final layout where WSU went 6-6 and finished 8th in the conference. Vegas is however reserved for the 6th place team this season, so to make it as SN predicts the Cougs would have to jump up a couple spots in conference play.
The Vegas Bowl took USC last season and the Trojans took Fresno State behind the woodshed for a 45-20 beating. According to the projection, WSU would play the Boise State Broncos in December. It would be an intriguing matchup, especially if Brett Rypien were at the helm in Boise. Of course Brett’s uncle, Mark Rypien played for Washington State and the Cougs thought Brett would make his way onto campus before he made the decision to go blue.
In this projection SN also has a Pac-12 North team going to the national championship, as the Oregon Ducks would take on the Oklahoma Sooners. For the full bowl projections, go HERE.
