PAC-12 Week 3 Update: South

Here at All Coug’d Up we are going to be giving you an update on what each team in the PAC-12 did over the previous week. Check the site for the North update for this week.

Arizona State (3-0)

Last week: Arizona State scored more than 35 points for the third consecutive week when they beat Colorado 38-24. After coming out to a 17-0 lead the Sun Devils let Colorado come back and cut the lead to 3. Colorado out-gained the Sun Devils in total yards 545 to 426 yet was unable to pull out the victory. Not all was good for Arizona State as their starting quarterback, Taylor Kelly, went down with a foot injury and is expected to miss a few weeks.

USC (2-1)

Last week: The Trojans were stunned by Boston College last week 37-31 and took their first loss of the season. USC was coming off of a win over then ranked 13th Stanford and was looking to keep up their hopes of getting into the College Football Playoff but had those dreams crushed. Boston College running back, Tyler Murphy, had a game of his life when he rushed for 191 yards on just 13 carries to lead the Eagles to a victory.

Utah (2-0)

Last week: Bye

This week: The Utes head down to the Big House to take on Michigan

Arizona (3-0)

Last week: The Wildcats took on a Nevada team that is coming off a victory over the Cougars and won 35-28. Nevada kept it close before Arizona pulled away in the last few minutes of the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter. Anu Soloman lead the Wildcats to the victory behind his arm where he threw for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns all while only missing on 4 of his passes going 22-26.

This week: Arizona starts PAC-12 play against California

UCLA (3-0)

Last week: Last week the Bruins escaped with a victory over Texas after quarterback Brett Hundley went down with an elbow injury on the Bruins second offensive drive. Backup quarterback Jerry Neuheisal led the Bruins to a 20-17 and scored the game winning touchdown with 3 minutes to go in the game. Neuheisal went 23/30 for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns after Hundley was sidelined after going 4/4 for 48 yards.

Colorado (1-2)

Last week: Colorado trailed Arizona State by 17 early in the second quarter but tried to make it a game and scored 14 unanswered points. Arizona then took a charge and took 21 point lead and was able to coast the rest of the game. The Buffaloes out-gained Arizona State by 119 yards behind the arm of Sefo Liufau who had 278 yards on 31 of 46 passing while throwing 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

This week: Colorado hosts a Hawaii team that will be playing their 3rd PAC-12 team this season.
