The Washington State Cougars have three former players hoping to hear their names called during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Between safety Jaden Hicks, cornerback Chau Smith-Wade, and defensive end Brennan Jackson, surely the Cougs will have someone land within 224 picks.
Here’s my take on where the three Cougars land throughout the draft in April:
At 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, Jaden Hicks is on the bigger size for safeties in the NFL but he's quick for his larger frame. Running a 4.59 in the 40-yard-dash, Hicks can seemingly teleport across the field to help cover opposing receivers streaking down the field for a pass.
Chau Smith-Wade's blazing fast 4.51-second 40-yard dash and quick hands make for a highly productive cornerback. With so many talented receivers in the NFL, many teams are looking for more and more players for their secondary.
His near pick six in the Reese's Senior Bowl was a spectacle to witness and definitely caught the attention of NFL scouts. Smith-Wade would make for a good slot defender against a lot of wideouts in the league.
