Edge/D-Line

  • Out: Alec Eckert (to Montana State), Ty Garay-Harris (not committed), Rocky Shields (not committed), Tristan Souza (to Buffalo), Peter Eyabi (not committed)
  • In: Syrus Webster (from Utah Tech), Malachi Wrice (3-star recruit), Camden DeGraw (3-star recruit), Hyrum-Benjamin Moors (3-star recruit)
  • Stayed: Raam Stevenson (redshirt senior), Quinn Roff (senior, 58 tackles, 10 sacks), Andrew Edson (senior, 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks)

A lot, and I mean a lot, of edge rushers and defensive linemen have transferred out of Washington State’s program this winter.

Between Eckert, Garay-Harris, Shields, Souza, and Eyabi leaving, the Cougs’ defensive locker room is looking a little empty.

The sole transfer at the edge position is Syrus Webster who was previously on Utah Tech’s roster, Raam Stevenson, Quinn Roff, and Andrew Edson are the three major returners for the team.

Stevenson finished 2023 with 16 tackles in his 10 game appearances. Meanwhile, Roff and Edson, the more experienced of the group, have fairly impressive stat lines.

Roff accounts for 58 tackles and 10 sacks during his tenure with the Cougs. Edson, in just three years, has racked up 36 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

The group will be joined by true freshmen Malachi Wrice, Camden DeGraw, and Hyrum-benjamin Moors – all three-star prospects out of high school.

Head coach Jake Dickert and edges coach Frank Maile are going to have to pay close attention to who stands out amongst the rest
