The Washington State Cougars were already set to have an unusual season in 2024: the Pac-12 dissolving, not joining a new conference, and compiling a schedule against teams from all over.

When players such as quarterback Cam Ward and edge rusher Alec Eckert announced they were entering the transfer portal, the outlook for the Cougars’ upcoming year became even less clear.

While the team’s future is unknown, a few players have stuck around to see what’s next and a handful have even transferred into Pullman. With such a fresh roster heading into spring practices, here are the three positions I think will be most highly contested:
