One of the most exciting days in college football that doesn’t actually involve games being played is finally here. So how does Jimmy Rodgers’ first true recruiting class stack up—both against our new conference foes and compared to recent WSU classes?

There was a time—pre-NIL, pre-portal—when National Signing Day was the clearest indicator of a program’s direction. Today, transfer classes play just as big of a role (and often bigger). Still, building long-term stability starts with high school recruiting, and in that department, WSU has been remarkably consistent.
Despite conference realignment, coaching changes, and quarterbacks leaving for bigger checks elsewhere, the Cougs have stayed firmly in the middle of the national pack year after year.
2026 Pac-12 Recruiting Rankings (So Far)
Boise State — #51 | Avg. rating: 86.51
Colorado State — #62 | Avg. rating: 85.43
Texas State — #63 | Avg. rating: 85.80
WSU — #66 | Avg. rating: 85.42
Fresno State — #70 | Avg. rating: 84.92
San Diego State — #73 | Avg. rating: 84.67
Utah State — #105 | Avg. rating: 84.79
Oregon State — #131 | Avg. rating: 86.16 (only 7 commits)
Aside from Boise State holding a slight edge, WSU is firmly in the conversation for the second-best class in the new Pac—at least at this stage. CSU, Texas State, Fresno, SDSU, and WSU being clustered tightly together highlights what could become a very evenly matched conference in the coming years. Oregon State, meanwhile, will almost certainly lean heavily on the portal as a new staff takes over.

The only notable outlier is taking just one receiver in the class. With the portal changing roster construction faster than ever, this may simply be an early snapshot rather than a final picture—but it could also hint at Jimmy Rodgers’ long-term offensive philosophy shifting toward a more run-heavy identity.
