Elsewhere in WSU sports teams are actually winning! If you can’t bear to look at Martin for a while, visit the Lower Soccer Field or Bohler Gym. Trust me.
If the football team is not meeting your expectations then have a look at the women’s soccer team. First year head coach Todd Shulenberger has his team firing on all cylinders right now. They are sitting at 4-0-0 after pulling out an improbably road victory at Montana on Friday.
“If you need a sports fix in Pullman there are other programs finding success this fall.”
Tied at 0-0, regulation time had expired and the overtime period was nearly exhausted a penalty shot found the net with 5 seconds remaining! Kailiana Johnson hit the game-winner to stun the Griz faithful. After receiving votes in the top 25 a week ago, expect the Cougars to possibly be ranked in the top 25 as of this week. They have outscored opponents 9-3 in 4 matches.
You can find them live on Friday 9/11 at 7 PM on PAC-12 Networks when the Oklahoma State Cowgirls come to Pullman. OSU has dropped two in a row to ranked opponents and now stands at 2-3-0.
The Cougar Volleyball squad dropped the season opener against Radford but has rattled off 5 victories since. Maybe it took longer than expected for the Pullman walk of fame inductees to get their team going? Radford is only 3-3 and not exactly a national powerhouse. Either way, Jen Greeny’s young team seems to be hitting its stride. The PAC-12 is the most difficult volleyball conference in America so momentem now could help carry this team deep in the season.
