For the past year and a half it has been a privilege and honor to have been a part of the All Coug’d Up team. With the coming season of Washington State Cougar football just a few weeks away I have made the decision to step aside. Though a very tough choice, it comes after careful consideration influenced by much emotion.
When ACU and Cougar Sports Blog merged following the spring practice of 2013, one thing was clear. The chance to be a part of a writing team passionate about all things crimson and gray held promise. I did not foresee just how exciting it would be to join in the evolution of a voice for Cougar Nation which has and will continue to offer readers an alternative perspective from other sites dedicated to WSU athletics.
I’ve been humbled by the fan support for the partnership of ACU and CSB. Because ACU is a new kid on the block/blog, expectations and aspirations combined with Cougar spirit have made the past year and a half a thrilling ride. Unfortunately my personal circumstances have prompted stepping back from regular coverage.
There will be excitement abound in Martin Stadium this coming season. New momentum is building for men’s and women’s hoops. Cougar baseball will send new faces out on the diamond to thrill fans and win ball games. Women’s rugby is poised to bring home another national championship after transitioning to Division I. I could go on and on about the future having only scratched the surface of what it is to follow Cougs on the field of competition. This is a very special time in the history of WSU athletics under the leadership of my classmate Bill Moos.
It’s with tremendous gratitude I say “Thank You!” to Josh Davis, ACU Editor, and the rest of the team. From the day I stepped foot on campus back in September of 1969, becoming part of the Cougar family offers a unique perspective and the chance to be part of a proud worldwide community. With a lifetime of experience behind me, you won’t meet anyone with more devotion or affection for all things crimson and gray than Josh Davis. That is what makes ACU one of the best Washington State blogs and source of news on the internet.
Saving the best for last, it’s you the fans and readers who I would like to reach out with a heartfelt “GO COUGS!!!” Thank you for your support and feedback. You made the many hours of research, watching games, participating in press conferences and writing a rewarding experience which has filled me will a sense of pride few will ever know.
