WSU Football 2014 Predictions: TV Schedule for Cougs

facebooktwitterreddit

Four of Washington State’s 12 games are already set on the television and time slots, all of them late, but the Pac-12 Conference made an interesting announcement on Sunday afternoon.

This season the 7:00 p.m. evening slots for Pac-12 Network games will be moved all the way up to 11 a.m. The change was made to reduce the number of conference games at night. The change should appeal to both fans and schools alike, there were plenty of complaints over the first two seasons as some teams like WSU played more than half of their schedule after 5 p.m. and in many cases after 7 p.m.

Traveling fans such as those that come over from Spokane or even Seattle find it difficult to make these late games, partially because of unpredictable weather and partially just because of the lateness of the necessary travel arrangements. But don’t get too giddy for earlier start times, Cougar fans. If this had happened last year, the Cougs still would have played five of their six late contests.

All of the 7 p.m. games will still be televised by ESPN and Fox Sports 1, who reserve the right to the late Pacific time zone games. The Cougs played three such games on ESPN last season and two more on FS1. With the new digs (and if the Cougs are any good this season, particularly if they start 3-0), it’s conceivable that at least that many games will be on the docket for 2014. I really don’t see more than one game being affected by the new time slot for Pac-12 Net.

As noted earlier, we already know four of the time slots and TV listings for WSU this upcoming season. Taking it a step further, here are my 2014 predictions TV and time slots for the Cougars.
