WSU Cougars News and Notes 6/5: WSU Baseball and the MLB Draft Prospects, Players Changing Minds, Scholar Athletes

With apologies, we did not post a question yesterday.  As MLB takes the stage today in an exercise that makes national letter of intent day seem of imminant import, we ask, without even the qualifier of minimum plate appearances, which WSU Alum had the highest batting average in the Bigs over his career?

The guys over at Cougfan did a great job breaking down what we can watch for in terms of Wazzu sending players to the minors.  WSU Baseball is on the rise, but it might be a while before we hear someone called, but best of luck to the newly minted pros.

All WSU fans should be proud to hear that Colin Slaybaugh was named Pac-12 Baseball Scholar Athlete of the Year.  Congratulations to Colin and the Baseball program.

On a disappointing note, DE Jalen Canty will not be on his way to Pullman in the fall.  He will instead be heading to Casper College of Wyoming to play hoops.  No real details have been released, but we wish Jalen luck and hope that this is the right direction for him at this point in his life.

Do you have some concerns surrounding the kicking game? Well, former Fresno Kicker Quinten Breshears is heading to Pullman to walk on.  Let’s hope that an answer is found soon.
