Your Wazzu Crimson Sunrise 5/8: Deone Bucannon, Pac-12 Spring Meetings and a New RB

facebooktwitterreddit

Ah, the Draft.  One of the most entertaining events in the sports world begins in just a few hours.  Some of these young men will be launched into greatness, others . . . well, they will be footnotes.   The Cougs have not delivered a first round pick in 11 years, when Seattle took home town sensation, Marcus Trufant.   There are rumors about Deone Bucannon’s name being called tonight, and that might not be a reach.

Seattle may be in need of Bucannon, as they announced SS Kam Chancellor underwent hip surgery yesterday.  Speculation is actually insane at this point, as there is no clear picks early, making later picks less certain.   So tune in tonight and watch what could be an absolute comedy of errors with teams attempting to trade back and forth all evening.

So, in case you doubted the type of kid Coach Leach is bringing to Pullman, the newest RB has already seen hardship and worked through it.  We can be sure the Cougar connection helped, but James Williams will certainly make a wonderful addition to the WSU offensive backfield. Thanks to WSU Strength Coach Jason Loscalzo for posting a shot of what I will always consider the defining moment of Deone’s career at WSU, we knew what he could bring, but that late August night in Jordan Hare, he introduced himself to the nation.

No matter where he goes tonight or tomorrow, we can assure the NFL that whatever weaknesses you perceive, the shortcomings always seem fixable.  The speed, frame, and football common sense are all there, and those you can’t teach.   31 teams are going to shake their heads in a few years,  as they watch their running backs drooling on the turf after Deone has dropped the hammer.
