WSU Recruiting: Cougars Trying to Land Big Fish in Nye Redding and Teammate from Pheonix

Ernie Kent is hot on the trail of a duo that could potentially, significantly boost the level of his pioneering recruiting class at Washington State. Thanks to Cougfan’s Braulio Perez, we found out recently that Nye Redding and Lyrik Shreiner out of Westwind Prep Academy will be taking an official visit to Pullman next weekend.

Both are stellar guards and either or both committing would validate Kent’s recruiting abilities less than two months after he was hired at WSU.

Redding is 6’2″, 178 lbs who has offers from WSU, Boston College, Mizzou and Bowling Green. Shreiner is a bit taller at 6’4″, 170 lbs and his offers are even more impressive coming from WSU, Mizzou, Cincy, Louisville, North Texas, Portland State and San Diego, also pulling varied interest from Washington, UTEP, Boise State and Pitt.

Yesterday I mentioned Ahmaad Rorie as a potential guard in Washington that the Cougs could go after, but there are only two spots remaining. So if by some miracle Redding and Shreiner both love Pullman enough to commit, Rorie and any other potential Cougar prospects drop out of the picture.

That would be a great thing for the Cougs, however I don’t anticipate both committing. Still as I mentioned, nabbing either one would be a huge victory for Kent’s first class. We’ll keep you updated.
