What do you think Mike Leach does when losing out on the No. 7 and No. 6 ranked quarterback prospects in the nation? No brainer, move onto No. 5 of course! The Washington State Cougars offered 4-star prospect Brady White Monday night, the young gun announced his 14th official offer for us on that Twitter.
It won’t be easy by any means to land him, the Newhall, CA product holds offers from the Arizona’s, Cal, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, Penn State and others. But Leach is beginning to get quite bold and considers his system the absolute best in the world when it comes to quarterbacks and will play it up as if he’s leading the charge to procure White’s services. That’s what we love about him, no fear or preconceived notions of weakness will stop him from going after the best in the country. That’s the only way you can land em, after all.
The Cougars weren’t done though, they also offered 3-star prospect Tyler Hilinski out of Upland, CA. Hilinski has only received one other offer (Utah State) but is receiving plenty of interest, especially around the Pac-12 where it looks like ASU and Cal may be offering soon. He threw for over 3,000 yards in his junior season with 34 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, while going 177 for 260, which is a staggering 68% completion rating. Got to have a feeling his offer sheet will be filling up quickly within the next month or so, but WSU has a jump on him. He already plans on visiting on the 29th, WSU’s final day of Spring practice.
White is 6’2, 186 lbs and ranked the No. 5 prospect on ESPN, No. 8 on Scout and No. 3 on Rivals. Hilinski is a little bit bigger at 6’4, 187 (so maybe just slightly more slender than what Connor Halliday’s frame has become for this season) and is ranked around No. 15 on the recruiting sites.
Pretty cool (and impressive) tape of Hilinski in footwork drills below, along with some highlights from White.
