Prediction and Early Impact:
I see Hameed being a redshirt his first year to have an extra year to learn the system and utilize the training. Washington State has only two corners that have any game experience on the roster coming back in 2014. Hameed has the abilities to play but will need that extra year to get to a level to compete in the PAC-12. A couple other corners coming in are more suited to contribute right away with their size.
On the other hand, Hameed will have to opportunity to get in and play as a freshman if the corners are not producing at a high level and if the coaches see the need to burn his redshirt to improve the team. We saw this with Daquawn Brown last year and it worked out nicely.
Hameed is the type of player that I see getting put in situations when the Cougars go into man coverage. With quick cuts and the speed that Hameed has it would be hard for the opponents to out-run him. Even though he is on the shorter side of things (5’11) Hameed has the leaping ability to get up there and high point the ball.
