By now, you realize that the Golden State Warriors picked up a gem in former Washington State shooting guard Klay Thompson, especially if you’re a Cougar fan.

Thompson reached another milestone on Wednesday night, collecting a double-double for the first time in his career with 20 points and 10 boards against the Dallas Mavericks. It doesn’t hurt that the effort led the way to a 103-99 win on the road at American Airlines Center.

The Cougs have moved on, of course, but I gotta say since it’s Thanksgiving eve and all that I am thankful for the years Klay spent as a Cougar. A variety of factors play into it, but ever since he left Wazzu the Cougs have steadily declined.

Ike Iroegbu looks like he could be the next Cougar star and presents the best one-on-one scoring option from the guard position at Washington State since Thompson’s days. If he develops anywhere near where the Warriors all-pro, 1st round NBA Draft pick did, we’re in for a treat.

At any rate, congrats to Klay Thompson for yet another achievement in his young, budding career.
