Washington State and Oregon State were tied at 24 late in the 3rd quarter when Mike Leach decided to gamble.

It backfired, horrendously and quickly.

A fake punt inside their own 30 bounced straight off of Jared Byers’ facemask and ended with Oregon State only having to take it 27 yards to take the lead. It was the first of six straight WSU turnovers as Connor Halliday threw three straight interceptions in a five play offensive span, each one capped off on the other end with a Beaver offensive touchdown. Brett Bartolone then lost a fumble and Austin Apodaca threw another interception.

In a flash, momentum took a 24-24 game and swung it 52-24 and the Beavers were celebrating their 5th victory in a row.

Sean Mannion and Brandin Cooks continued to dominate college football. Hooking up 11 times for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns. That put the two atop the OSU record books with 18 all time touchdown hookups. Cooks also ran it 4 times for 37 yards and another TD.

The Cougars actually led late in the 3rd quarter 24-17 and it was looking mighty rosy for a sold out Martin Stadium crowd. They were gone by the 6 minute mark of the 4th.

Halliday threw it well early, but crashed down to Earth in the 4th. Damante Horton picked off his 4th ball of the season and the Beavers threw two interceptions.
