The Washington State Cougars and Oregon State Beavers will strap it up tonight for the opportunity to get within one game of bowl eligibility heading to week 8. Oregon State comes in riding a four game win streak after losing their opener to a terrific Eastern Washington team, yet people are still down on the Beavs and have made the Cougs odds-on favorites by a field goal.
Sean Mannion is the Beavers’ leader and nation’s leading passer with over 2,000 yards already through just five games. Brandin Cooks has been the beneficiary of Mannion’s awesome start, racking up a national leading 807 yards and 9 touchdowns.
The Cougars meanwhile are flying high after a pretty one-sided victory in Berkeley against the Cal Bears put them one game over last years’ total after just half the season. A hobbling Connor Halliday inspired WSU to the victory, throwing for more than 500 yards and three touchdowns in the process.
WSU is making their third appearance of the season on an ESPN affiliate tonight with both of the first two being losses (Auburn, Stanford).
