Cougars A.M. Links: Washington State News 8/4

August is in full swing as we prep for day 3 of Cougar football camp. Stories from yesterday.
"Indeed, WSU coaches mixed and matched on the offensive line throughout spring ball after the Cougars gave up a school-record 57 quarterback sacks last year. That was the highest total in the Football Bowl Subdivision, partly due to the fact that few teams passed more and no team ran less than the Cougars."
"Fall camp is the time for freshman or redshirt freshman and transfers to make a good impression on the coaching staff. We’ve seen a number of freshman play for the Cougs in the last few years (partially because the more senior guys ahead of them stank so much but we’ll ignore that) with relative success"
"Following the special teams session, the Cougars worked through a team segment. Redshirt-junior quarterback Connor Halliday led the offense on the first drive, making a nice scramble and first down completion to newcomer senior wide receiver Vince Mayle midway through the series. The defense buckled down in the red zone against the offense and kept them out of the endzone in the final couple plays."
