WSU Football Recruiting: Mike Leach Gets First Big O-Lineman Commit Of 2014, Eggert Goes Crimson
By Josh Davis
The Cougs are finally on the board at offensive line and in exciting fashion to boot. Braden Eggert out of Napa, CA is the 10th commit to Washington State’s 2014 class.
Eggert stands at a staggering 6’7″, 311 lbs going into his senior high school season and was recently tabbed at #14 on CalHiSports list of the top California linemen. That’s right in the Mike Leach wheelhouse when talking size for the hosses that he employs to protect his quarterbacks.
To make things even better, Eggert is quick and powerful enough to play defensive tackle at the same time (although he may not be the most athletic guy in that position) and will come in to exclusively man the left tackle spot. Leach has been trying to get more and more specialized at both tackle spots so this goes right along with that theory.
Oregon State, Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, San Diego State and Northern Colorado had all offered him a full ride, but after camping with the Cougs not too far back he decided that Pullman was the place for him.
It’s exciting to see the first lineman on the board, I know Coug fans everywhere have been growing concerned that no OL had committed yet. Eggert is a nice prospect rated 3 stars and ranked #90 in the country at this time from Scout. For some of his Hudl highlights from his junior season CLICK HERE
