WSU Football Recruiting: Cougs Land 2nd Receiver of the Week
By Josh Davis
Washington State is gettin’ busy on the recruiting trail, reeling in their second inside receiver commit of the week. Keith Harrington out of Saint Petersburg, Florida is the newest Mike Leach air raid toy, who is listed as running back in the scouting services but will be making his mark in the slot position at Wazzu.
Immediately Harrington reminds me a lot of Ricky Galvin out of high school and should be a good compliment in the slot. Both players are 5’8″, Galvin is listed 9 lbs heavier at 174 (which is probably a tad lighter than what Harrington will round out at after a year or two of weights). Another good comparison is 5’9″, 152 lbs inside receiver Robert Lewis, although many Coug fans haven’t seen Lewis play just yet, so it’s tougher to gauge.
The newest Coug has a lot of speed to burn, that’s for sure. He also plays some slot in high school so his learning curve will be nicely reduced coming in. However unlike the other receiver commit, Zaire Andre earlier in the week, I don’t see Harrington competing as a returner, even with the speed that he brings to the table. He’s more of a space player and excels in angles running away from people, but not so much through traffic like Andre. We’ll have more on his talents when Nick does a film analysis tomorrow morning.
Harrington’s commit also marks the second commitment from the state of Florida, quarterback Peyton Bender out of Fort Lauderdale was the first Washington State commitment exactly 2 months ago on March 30. The Cougs now have two commits each from Florida and California, along with one from Washington.
Go Cougs!
