Washington State trimmed the roster down before the weekend due to the necessity to get to the NCAA mandated 105 players and there are a couple interesting names no longer on it. The first and most interesting cut is offensive lineman Niu Sale, who apparently was simply buried and not able to dig his way out on the depth chart. With even more size and talent incoming in the Fall, Sale’s fate was apparently sealed during a very un-fantastic Spring game.
Another name of note is walk-on Jesse Brown, the third string quarterback that was about to be 6th or 7th in the rotation come Fall. Ok, maybe it wasn’t that bad, but he simply wouldn’t have had a shot at either of the top three spots with Tyler Bruggman and at least three other walk-on quarterbacks moving in. Both Brown and Sale are probably better served being let go and finding a home at the FCS level.
Among the other names no longer on the roster, running back Chris Boachie, receiver Daniel McDonald and offensive lineman Cole Morgavi.
