While a lot of people may look at the O-line for a first round pick (one of two) along with a receiver, I see the distinct opportunity for the Rams to squash their linebacker need with a solid, starting level play-maker at #16. If that scenario plays, then I don’t see them coming back to the OLB position the rest of the draft, which means Long is off of the Rams’ board.
The Perfect Storm:
The perfect storm for a Travis Long trip to St. Louis would happen if the Rams decided to wait until the 3rd round to address their OLB need. If they wait that deep they may have to get two to cover bases and Long projects in the 6th or 7th as a depth guy. He might even get the chance (with the right number) to confuse offenses lining up on the line while Chris Long comes from his linebacker spot to wreck havoc on the offensive backfield.
Wait, why are you laughing?
Likelihood of Getting Drafted by Rams:
C- Don’t see it but could be worth a late round stab at gold if the Rams cover the rest of their needs.
