Stacked Against the Pick:
The Colts offense was pretty good last season and their main quandary is defense. They also just recently added to the offensive side at receiver with the faster than lighting Darrius Hayward-Bay, who should become a virtual star on the turf in Indy. Could it be that the Colts will see higher needs elsewhere?
The Perfect Storm:
Ok that was all true but I tell you I LOVE a Marquess Wilson draft pick by Indy and I think it could come as soon as the 3rd round. The NFL Network guys put up Keenan Allen as a potential first round pick for the Colts in their Path to the Draft Mock Draft, which of course would take Marquess off of their board rather early. But let’s be realistic, the Colts have more need on the defensive side and will probably address that in at least the first 2 rounds. Allen’s stock has fallen, but he won’t make it out of the first 40 picks because of the game film.
Marquess might be the most potential-driven receiver remaining when the Colts pick late in the 3rd and he would bring a major size upgrade to what they already possess on the outside. Also, at 4.41 speed, he runs .3 faster than Allen and is taller. Come on now, Marquess is a perfect pick for Indianapolis. Learning alongside Reggie Wayne would also do wonders for the young man’s work ethic, so it’s a great spot for him as well.
Likelihood of Getting Drafted by Colts:
A+ (To me this pick makes too much sense in the 3rd or 4th round)
