WSU Spring Football 2013: First David Yost (Recievers Coach) On-Field Sighting as a Cougar

After yesterday’s practice, the 3rd of the Spring season, head coach Mike Leach conducted his regular after practice interview. That’s not so much what caught my attention, though a Leach interview is always a good listen, but what did catch me was that inside receivers coach David Yost was seen in the background. At first I was trying to figure out what player he was, then I realized it was him.

He comes in at the 1:45 mark of the video, talking with Brett Bartolone (#19), presumably about routes or something of the sort before Austin Apodaca (#2) comes over and asks a question and gets involved in the conversation. The fact that I couldn’t immediately recognize him as a coach due to the hair and sweats, is a testament to everything we’ve heard about him being a player’s coach who likes to blend in and just be “one of the guys”. He’s always felt that helps him relate to his kids in a way most coaches cannot.

Anyway, here’s the video, if you’re interested in seeing Yost for the first time on the field (assuming of course that you haven’t been out to either of the three Cougar Spring sessions so far)
