Washington State Basketball GameDay Huddle: Utah Utes

Ok Cougs, time to get on the board! You cannot lose to Utah, the only team worse off than us write now at 0-4. There is not a whole lot more to say, really. It’s either jump into a tie for 7th or drop to dead last and get ready to stay there after this game.

This game reminds me a lot of Fresno State a few weeks ago, far as feeling going in. They have some players in Loveridge and DuBois but are on a disappointing stretch run right now. Lost to ASU 55-54 in OT, then to #3 Arizona 60-57, then to UCLA 57-53, then to USC 76-59. That’s a simply heartbreaking way to go 0-4 in the conference.

We haven’t done any better, but we’ve had a shot in all 3 till around the 5:00 mark, at which point we go on a drought and lose touch with our opponent. That cannot happen tonight. I expect it to be much the same all year, where we are within 5 points at that point and then either turn it on or turn it off during the last 5 minutes. Hopefully we find someone to step up and hit a couple shots to lift our offense at that time.

Went into Utah in much the same circumstance last year, only to get beat down. Redemption would be so sweet tonight! Coach Bone really needs this and the team needs this to get any confidence going. We could go on a little run here, with Colorado coming in Saturday, and fight our way back up the ranks.
