Quarterback Cody Clements and safety Tyrone Duckett are officially transferring from Washington State University, hoping for a shot at actual playing time after being faced with too many in front of them on the WSU depth chart.

Clements didn’t and wasn’t going to see any snaps for the Cougs’ air raid offense, which his skill set really just didn’t fit well. He will be transferring as a redshirt sophomore to Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA and will have the immediate opportunity to start for a year. Frank Mazzotta Jr. coached Clements at La Habra (CA) High and has the family connection with the senior Mazzotta at Cerritos, who has been there for 35 years.

Frank Sr. is saying that Clements “just wants to play” and also that “it’s basically his job to lose”, so Cody is getting the chance he deserves.

Meanwhile, Duckett left the team during the 2012 season after being moved from safety to running back and has found himself a spot (presumably back at safety where he is again listed) at Sacramento State of the Big Sky Conference.

We wish both the best of luck as they move on with their careers and lives. Always, they will be part of the Cougar family.

Go Cougs!
