Florida cracked the top 3 of the Fansided Top 25 this week, joining Alabama and Oregon, which have been jockeying at the top for several weeks. The Gators escaped a potential trap game at Vanderbilt, but also benefited from the LSU win over South Carolina. The Gators’ defeat of the Tigers has greater significance with LSU beating a team that last week hit the top 5.
Notre Dame and Kansas State round out the top five, both surviving tests on Saturday to stay unbeaten.
The Pac-12 still boasts 4 schools in the top 25, including Oregon at 2, USC at 11, Stanford at 22 and ASU at 25. ASU will get a chance to move up in Thursday’s game against USC, but if they lose it might mean the conference stays at 3 teams for awhile. Too bad for a conference that was overachieving with 6 in the top 25 just a couple short weeks ago. Stanford’s loss (though they had the game stolen from them), hurts their chances of a top 20 finish and they play the Big Game with Cal this weekend. UCLA and Arizona have fallen off with critical losses and the Pac is always knocking each other off anyway.
