Today’s Link of the Day focuses on the Pac 12 and particularly Cal. Our friends at Saturday Blitz have given us some really good links into the evolutionary world of Pac-12 football, where stadium expansions are furious right now around the conference. Nearly every school has either expanded/overhauled in the past decade, is in the process of expanding/overhauling or is in the planning stage of even more expansion. As you know from our various coverages, in some cases like Washington State, all three of those descriptions fit the bill.
We look at Cal’s overhauls because of the unique situation with Memorial Stadium, as it was built directly over a fault line and is therefore a prime target to be annihilated if and when a rupture or quake happens over that line. The stadium overhaul will be ready to play in this season and what the engineers did with the stadium to guard against disaster outside of the football aspect is really amazing to see.
