ACU Weekly Recap: Top Stories 4/17 – 4/23

It’s officially the offseason, but there are still a lot of stories abounding around Cougar athletics. This week was a quality week of news so let’s recap it.

Last Sunday we did our final Pac-12 Football Team Preview looking at our very own Washington State Cougars.

It was a huge recruiting week at ACU. Mark and I kept Cougar Nation up to date while we received verbals from CB/S Markell Sanders of Eastside Catholic in Sammammish, Cougar legacy LB Peyton Pulleur of Skyline, an intriguing WR in River Cracraft of Santa Margarita, LB Ivan McLennan of El Camino Community College in California, RB Gerard Wicks of Long Beach and ATH Cole Madison of Seattle. After all was said and done, Evan put together a nice Recruiting Roundup, grading out all of our commitments thus far.

The Ryan Leaf saga reached a saddening conclusion (at least for a while) on Wednesday with his sentencing for drug related crimes. Hopefully our friend will get his life back on track.

Thursday we talked about a HUGE announcement from the NCAA, as they made a splash Wednesday night in the unified model for a 4 team playoff in college football. We here at ACU looked at what the Pac-12 and Big 10 should look at doing now that the model is in place, and we linked up to SB Nation, who recognized the fact that this playoff system will likely still give us huge problems in the future.

Also, in our excitement, are we forgetting a QB? Well actually, there are 3 Qb’s that we really haven’t mentioned recently, but I believe 1 in particular has the chance to make an impact on this football team by the time his career is over.

We look forward to another good week in Cougar and Pac-12 news. A couple surprise articles are coming out this week and you never know how the recruiting trail will treat us so stay tuned daily here at All Coug’d Up!

GO COUGS!
