Woolridge Family In Mourning After Death of Father Orlando
By Josh Davis
Late Thursday evening, current Washington State Guard Royce Woolridge (a transfer from Kansas) and his family had to experience one of the worst parts of life, which is the death of a loved one. Orlando Woolridge, who was drafted 6th in the first round of the NBA Draft of 1981 to the Chicago Bulls, was pronounced dead in his parents’ Louisiana home Thursday night of a chronic heart condition which had him under hospice. The former college All American grew up in Louisiana and went to school at Notre Dame. He was only 52 when he passed away.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Woolridge’s as they deal with this tragedy. It’s a sad, sad day for a lot of people and I hope Cougs everywhere rally and help Royce to recover from this so that he can be an integral part of our basketball team and family for the next three seasons here at Washington State.
