Ty Isaac: The Next Great Name Running Back at USC?

facebooktwitterreddit

What is it about the name USC that allures those ridiculously talented running backs with the instantly recognizable name? They’ve always been able to get them, way back from the days of Mike Garrett, to O.J. Simpson, to Marcus Allen, Charles White, Reggie Bush, Joe McKnight and now… Ty Isaac. According to Ted Miller on the Pac-12 Blog this morning:

"Isaac, who could also play linebacker, is a power back at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, but he also has good speed and elusiveness, according to his ESPN evaluation. Last winter, Isaac rushed for 516 yards and six touchdowns in the state championship game. As a junior, he rushed for 2,114 yards — 11.9 yards per carry — and scored 45 touchdowns."

516 yards! 1 game! He’s a mix between Lendale White and Reggie when they were thunder and lightning 8 years ago. This kid is ranked in the top 18 recruits in the nation and is now going to terrorize the Pac-12 South for at least the next 3 seasons. I don’t think there’s any question that Isaac will immediately be an impact player and be the next great thing the school has ever seen, because as we know, it never ends. They just reload and reload. Of the players I mentioned above, McKnight was the only player not to receive the most prestigious trophy in College Football, yet still he was selected in the 4th round of the draft. Reggie lost his trophy after the scandal stuff but still he got one. So the question becomes: is Ty Isaac the next Heisman Trophy winner at RB for the Trojans? Only time will tell, but he certainly has the name for it.
