BREAKING: Former USC Commit Malik Condiff Commits to Washington State

Former USC walk-on commit Malik Condiff has informed All Coug’d Up that he is headed to Pullman to play for Washington State in 2014.

"This is Malik Condiff 3 star athlete from Inglewood california i am a Wazzu commit previously commited to USC made a change upon meeting coach leach and coach simmons at the wazzu camp."

The Cougars weren’t on the radar for the 3-star athlete from Inglewood, CA, in fact after disliking USC his whole life he had made a commitment to walk-on and play for the Trojans. Apparently the WSU coaching staff and their camps are making an impression.

Mike Leach offered Condiff a preferred walk-on spot in late June after Condiff attended one of the WSU Elite camps and ran one of the fastest 40 times (4.52) at the camp. He’s not a blazer but he’s certainly fast and athletic enough to be a Pac-12 receiver and is known as a 3-star athlete by some recruiting publications. In short, he’s not your average walk-on.

He is not sure yet if he will play inside or outside receiver but he will be on the offensive side of the ball. The staff also thinks he can be a dynamic play maker on special teams, possibly at kick returner.

The Cougs are in good shape in both the receiving and return game in 2014, so Malik figures to be a valuable candidate for redshirt before perhaps making some noise in 2015. His commitment should not change the status of the 2014 class as far as scholarships are concerned, with the Cougs having used 24 of 25 scholarships.

Welcome aboard Malik! Go Cougs!
