(Almost) Free Coffee in Washington State

To honor the 12th man and the Seahawks, Starburcks stores in Washington State (more than 400) will be offering a 12 oz. drip coffee for 12 cents, if you are wearing Seahawk colors.   Great deal, good times, if you like such things.

There are some in the Seattle area lamenting the promotion as an attempt to return to the graces of Seattle sports fans after Starbucks CEO Howard Shultz effectively sold our beloved Sonics to Oklahoma City.  While we understand that frustration, and the desire to boycott this promotion, the argument is rather hollow.

Starbucks will be losing money on this promotion, if you do not buy anything else.  So head in with a dime and two pennies (make that a nickel, we do have sales tax), and grab the coffee that is offered for you, avoid the biscotti,  brownies, etc. that they will attempt to sell you at the same time.  If you avoid the upsell, you are taking money away from Shultz.

Take the opportunity if you like, but we at All Coug’d Up wanted to give our readers here in the Evergreen State the chance to make the decision themselves.  If you want the cheap coffee, great, if you want to take money from Howard, even better.

This is not an advertisement for Starbucks, but a heads up for the ACU faithful.  If you’re not a Seahawk fan, just pretend it is a promotion linked to Butch’s #12.

Go Cougs!
