The buzzer sounds, and it’s that time of year again. Women’s basketball is hosting Syracuse in their season opener tomorrow in Beasley Coliseum. The Cougs are coming off a win against Master’s College in their exhibition, sweeping the game 94-47.

Some stand-out players from last week’s game include Guard Tia Presley, scoring 18 points on the match, followed by Lia Galdeira with 17 points and five steals. Both players received All Pac-12 honors, voted on by coaches in the conference (wsucougars.com).

The Cougars reached the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Conference tournament last season for the second year in a row, but fell to Stanford University.

Syracuse is coming off of earning a 7 seed in the NCAA Women’s Tournament but falling to 10 seed Creighton in the round of 64. They aren’t ranked coming into 2013/2014, but they still have a talented roster.

The game on Sunday at 1 pm will be the season opener for both teams. WSU women’s basketball is a team you’ll want to keep up with this season.
