The Washington State Cougars tip-off their 2013/2014 basketball season Friday night at home at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, WA against the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners.

The game will mark the beginning of the 5th season for head coach Ken Bone, who carries a 70-65 record into the season. He still has 3 seasons (including this season) remaining on his contract, but the fans are growing restless as WSU suffered it’s first losing season in six years in 2012 (13-19, 4-14 Pac-12) and finished tied for last in-conference.

The Cougs return 10, including three starters, G Royce Woolridge, G DaVonte Lacy and F D.J. Shelton. The season could be won or lost however with how the newcomers come along, G Ikenna Iroegbu, C Jordan Railey, G Que Johnson and F Josh Hawkinson.

Bone has mentioned that the Cougars will be showcasing a high-pressure defense for the first time sense he’s been at WSU and is certainly excited in the team’s depth. We’ll get to see it in action for the first time officially tonight.
