Mike Leach inked 19 new football players today (24 overall now). You can view the Big Board here.

After the day was done, Mike got in front of the media to talk about his newest class of recruits. Here’s what he had to say.

On the getting a full year to recruit:

"Typically classes are a year and half in the making. I thought are staff did a tremendous job, we got quality guys, they are good in the class room for the most part, as well as they fit our needs."

On the topic of Robert Lewis:

"“He can play, well he returns kicks, returns punts, He plays safety, which I don’t think he is necessarily a safety, but certainty has the ability of playing the secondary. He can play slot revicer, he can play running back. We just got to get him in shape and put a little weight on him.” “He played running back more than anything, but does look like the classical slot reciver.”"

On Bruggman and Arizona State:

"I dont know what Arizona State did, all I know is at midnight I got a lasagna recipe from Mrs. Bruggman, and I can personally vouch for, it is one of the best I have ever had. Were excited to have Tyler, and happy to bring him on board. He’s a self starter guy. Might have the highest GPA and test score combination on the team. Then just really his leader ship qualities, the way he commanded his team. The most important thing a Quarterback can do is command his offense and thats what he does."

On recruiting in American Samoa:

"We look at a combination of everything, we look at film, there is some contacts, you know, around Washington certainty with the Samoan islands.   Film can be an adventure, but Ill tell you, when you get it, its impressive.  I’m kind of waiting for my trip over there"

On budget of recruiting:

"I have no idea, we didn’t have any trouble getting anywhere or getting anybody up here, so its worked out so far, so good."

On recruiting guys to Pullman:

"The biggest thing with Pullman, is people have heard of it, but they haven’t been here, so they need to get up here so they can see it. With that exception is when they get here they like it. I don’t know anybody that doesn’t like it, once they come here. Everybody talks about college towns, well this is a college town, and feels like a college town."
