Washington State Women’s Soccer and Volleyball Start Their Pac-12 Seasons

The Washington State women are in full swing now, as both the Soccer and Volleyball squads had their Pac-12 openers this week against highly ranked UCLA and Washington, respectively. The soccer squad played a tremendous match with the Lady Bruins, fighting #2UCLA to a 0-0 tie and getting a result out of the game (ties help winning percentage in the standings). The Cougars now hold a 6-1-1 record overall and get ready to travel to Santa Clara on Sunday before continuing with Pac-12 play next Friday at Utah. Hopefully they can continue their solid play and creep closer to a return trip to the NCAA tournament as we get deeper into the season.

The volleyball team fell in a tight game with Washington, losing 3-1 in a tight contest scored 20-25, 29-27, 14-25 and 25-27. As you can see we came within just a couple points of a 5th match and who knows? But regardless, the ladies showed themselves that they are as good as their 10-3 record suggests. Hopefully that confidence will carry over into tonight at Arizona State, as the ladies try and even their Pac-12 mark and put themselves in great shape for the week off before UCLA comes to Bohler next Friday. The loss snapped a 9 game win streak for the Cougars, who have been playing really great volleyball and look to continue.

Go Cougs!
