So we won right? So why so glum Coug fans?  I know Eastern Washington isn’t a team we think should play with us but there are lots of positives to roll with here.  First off we won.  Utah lost to Utah State…  Yes they did… Also Colorado lost to Sacramento State… Yes they did.  (Even a #8 ranked Arkansas team lost to Louisiana Monroe. Yessir!) My point is it could be worse as it is for other teams in our conference and around the country today.

Another thing, give EWU some credit.  Those aren’t scrubs out there.  This is a team that went into Idaho and didn’t let them into the end zone.  Also last year they took Washington down to the wire just like us and Washington went on to make it to the holiday bowl last year.  Also Eastern has a good quarterback in Padron who was previously an FBS Player and a pretty good one at that.  So this was a great effort by them.

The offense got going and the defense… well they have a lot to work on.  But we have a win and we can be happy with that.  We’ve got work to do but I don’t think the way you win a game determines the way a season will turn out.  We have a good chance to win 6-7 games this year we just have to take it one week at a time.

The thing that is concerning about this game is in the second half Jeff Tuel went down and didn’t return to the game, and obviously he is a pretty big key to our offenses success.  I’ll admit at the beginning of the game I was getting flustered with Jeff’s tentative play but after evaluating the game he had and watching some differences with him and Conner, I applaud the way Jeff was playing and I really think we’re going to need him to pull out some Pac12 games.

So all in all though it was a good day and I am satisfied with this win.  We’re going to have to bring it to UNLV next Friday because the Rebels are looking like a brand new team this year.  We will keep you updated on Jeff’s status and all the events leading up to the game.  Also did anyone catch that U-Dub game at LSU? 🙂 Go Cougs!
