As we mentioned earlier today, Deone Bucannon has been named to the Walter Camp second team and the Athlon Sports first team All America’s.

WSU Athletics has released a highlight tape of our great safety and it’s a fun video to watch. Let’s have a look.

This video doesn’t highlight all of his big hits and plays (gosh he made 109 tackles so they couldn’t do that), but it does give you a sense of the power that “Buc” possesses. He added 20 lbs to his frame last off-season (boosting him to 215 muscly pounds) and it paid huge dividends.

Basically he became a play-maker with linebacker power and safety speed, which was admittedly one of his focuses coming out of last season, he told us in the Spring. Now he’s positioned himself as a legitimate second day prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft which will be held (as always) next April.

Buc will get at least two more chances to impress NFL scouts on a college field, checking in for the Gildan New Mexico Bowl with his team next Saturday and then suiting up for the Senior Bowl.
