The Washington State Cougars will take on the Idaho Vandals tonight in a basketball game between schools that are 8 miles away from each other. The Cougars (3-4) head over to Moscow, Idaho to take on the Vandals (4-4) at 7 pm in basketball’s version of the Battle of the Palouse. It is very early in the season so it is hard to really tell what the identities of each team will be.

The Vandals are coming into this game ranked 152 in scoring with 75 ppg, 241st in rebounds per game, 304th in assist per game and 205th in field goal percentage. The Vandals have a .723 free throw percentage and a .439 field goal percentage. They also have a .376 three point percentage. The Vandals have 11 turnovers per game and average 5 steals a game.

Stephen Madison averages 17 points per game while Connor Hill (13) and Glen Dean (11.9) finish off the top 3 leading scorers for the Vandals. Madison also leads the team in rebounds per game with 8.6. Sekou Wiggs (3.8) and Bira Seck (3.5) are the rest of the top 3 for the Vandals.

The Vandals as a team are averaging 11 assists a game and is led by Madison who averages 2.3 per game. From beyond the arc the Vandals have two players who have made over 10 3’s.Hill and Dean are the leading 3-point shooters with 19 and 16 respectively.

The Vandals leading offensive rebounder is Madison with 23 overall and Paulin Mpwae and Joe Kammerer each have 11 offensive rebounds. Madison also leads the team with 46 defensive rebounds.

Nobody sticks out on paper, outside of Madison, but the Vandals seem pretty balanced. This one could come down to foul trouble in the paint.
