WSU Women’s Basketball Beats Ole Miss in Final Game from Honolulu

Coach June Daugherty and her Cougar basketball team pride themselves on a tough non-conference schedule to get ready for Pac-12 play. Nothing has been different in a 2-3 start to the 2o13 season. One thing is apparent though, the young women’s basketball team is growing up.

Tia Presley’s career high 29 points against Ole Miss in the final game of the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Hololulu, HI was evidence of that. Presley is becoming a force to be dealt with in her junior season, so far averaging 19 points per to lead the Cougars.

She wasn’t alone on Sunday, sophomore Lia Galdeira and senior Sage Romberg chipped in 14 apiece. Galdeira is averaging 17.2 a game while Romberg gives the Cougs nine per contest.

As you can see below, the Cougs had fun over the weekend in Hawaii, then finally got down to business after back to back losses to Hawaii and West Virginia. The ladies will return home on Friday night to take on Fresno State, a day after the men take on Gonzaga in Spokane.

Go Cougs!
