The Washington State Cougars (1-1, 0-1) went on the road for a late Saturday night game and defeated the #25 ranked USC Trojans, 10-7.  In a defensive battle Washington State came out on top as Boo’s poured down from a disgruntled USC fan base.  This was the Cougars first win at USC in 13 years.

USC (1-1, 0-1) opened up the game with a TD run by Cody Kessler as they took a 7-0 lead.  That score would hold for most of the first half until WSU defensive back, Demonte Horton, picked off a pass from Kessler and took it back 70 yards to tie the game at 7.  Kessler ended the half 8/13 for 41 yards as the crowd “boo’d” him off the field.

A change in quarterback for the Trojans took place but did not effect the Washington State Defense as they did not allow any second half points.  Washington State then took the lead on a 41 yard field goal from Andrew Furney after a spirited drive from an offense that had been shut down all game.

To seal the deal for the Cougars and to earn player of the game, Damonte Horton would go on to intercept a pass from Max Wittek on USC’s final drive.  Washington State took the ball and ran out the clock for their first Conference win of 2013.

GO COUGS!
