It’s time to get the NFL underway! Of course we Cougs are looking forward to tonight’s matchup with the USC Trojans, but tomorrow morning/early afternoon we should get our first look at at least one Cougar-rookie in their NFL debut.

Marquess Wilson begins his rookie campaign as a 3rd string “WR 1” on the Chicago Bears depth chart. He’s listed behind NFL star Brandon Marshall and veteran backup Earl Bennett. On the other side at “WR 2” are Alshon Jeffery, Joe Anderson and Eric Weems. The Bears do not list a 3rd WR rotation, but they will use 3 and 4 WR sets so it’s a good bet that all receivers will see the field and I can’t wait to see the much maligned ex-Cougar star.

Chicago opens up the season at 10:00 am (1:00 pm EDT) tomorrow morning at Soldier Field in Chicago, playing the Cincinnati Bengals.

Meanwhile Jeff Tuel won the backup job for the Buffalo Bills and could get a chance to play tomorrow as well, though that opportunity will probably rest on the continued health of 1st round pick EJ Manuel. Tuel saw extended action this preseason when Manuel and veteran Kevin Kolb were both injured. The Bills brought in Matt Leinart for competition, but Tuel ultimately was the best choice for them.

Buffalo opens up their season at home in Ralph Wilson Stadium at 10:00 am (1:00 pm EDT), against the New England Patriots.

Go Cougs!
