The Pac-12 released the 2013 schedule for all 12 teams last week and before yesterday hadn’t a chance to dissect it at all. While we’re not going to go into it too much right now, we gave you a game by game best case scenario yesterday. Today is the the worst case scenario in my mind. Again, there are like a million variables to this, so we may have to revisit this closer to the season after recruiting classes are finalized and starters are identified, etc.

  • L @Auburn: I really hope this doesn’t happen, but let’s face it, the Cougs don’t historically play well in early season games that could put them on the map in a given season. Auburn possesses some SEC level talent still, despite their terrible showing last season. The Tigers simply overpower WSU, similar to what BYU at the beginning of 2012 and Halliday throws 4 interceptions against an opportunistic secondary. War Eagle soars in a 20 point drubbing of Washington State.
  • L @USC: Marquise Lee was my reasoning for the loss in the best case scenario, and he’s still the reason for it. Except this time he catches 3 touchdowns and returns a punt too. SC by 17.
  • W vs Southern Utah: Cougs steamrole SUU by 28. Some things don’t change.
  • W vs Idaho: The Vandals still aren’t very good in the worst case scenario. In fact, their worse! Cougs win by 35 and pick up a little momentum going into full conference slate.
  • W vs Stanford (in Seattle): Cardinal are simply bummed out after falling to a newly rejuvenated Cougar squad.
  • L @ Cal: Cal wins by 21? Again, we just don’t play well at Cal.
  • L vs Oregon St.: Still an 8 point win for Beavs.
  • L @ Oregon: Oh god, Ducks are mad about Cougs making them look bad in the first half of 2012’s game. 56-13.
  • BYE: Thank God! A chance to refocus and prepare for ASU!
  • W vs Arizona St.: This one stays exactly the same. As bad as WSU is at Tempe, the Devils often seem to return the favor in Pullman and it’s that way again this year. ASU simply gets outplayed by a hungry Cougar squad at home. 15 points.
  • BYE: 2 wins and we make a bowl!
  • L @ Arizona: Still a crimson heartbreaker, but Zona explodes for a 24 point win in the Desert.
  • W vs Utah: Leach still gets the troops fired up for their redemption shot at Utah. Cougs by 3 in a shocker nationally.
  • L @ Washington: Mercy, Seferian-Jenkins has the game of his career and the Huskies rip our hearts out in a 1 point victory via a FG at the gun, in the first Apple Cup victory in the newly renovated stadium. Bowl game is gone as well.
