Washington State Soccer: Takes On #18 Cal Today After Tough 3-2 Loss

The WSU Women’s soccer team has been playing good ball all season under head coach Keidane McAlpine, highlighted by a scoreless draw at UCLA to begin the Pac-12 year. Since then they hold a 3-3 Pac-12 mark, with all 3 wins coming by way of shut-out. 3 nights ago they dropped a heart-breaking match in Palo Alto by a 3-2 mark, to the #2 ranked Lady Cardinal. With only 4 matches remaining and only one on the road, the Cougs face the #12 Golden Bears of California down in Berkeley at noon today.

Junior Micaela Castain and senior Brandi Vega continue to rank among the statistical leaders in the Pac-12 Conference…Castain is ranked second in in goals (9) and goals per game (0.64)…is tied for second in game-winning goals (4)…is ranked fourth in points (19) and in points per game (1.36)…Vega is ranked sixth in points (16) and points per game (1.14)…is tied for seventh in assists (4)…is tied for eighth in goals (6), goals per game (0.43) and assists per game (0.29)…is ninth in shots per game (2.93)…and is 10th in shots (41).
